In 2006, he was promoted to head coach of Schalke 04, where he impressively led the team to second place in the Bundesliga and reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. His analytical mindset, coupled with a strong focus on discipline and teamwork, quickly made him one of the most respected coaches in Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As coach of Hannover 96, Slomka succeeded in moulding the team from a relegation-threatened club into a contender for international competitions.
