Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg – fromer top politician, charismatic top speaker today.
For more than four years, Baron Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg has been living in Connecticut at the tranquil east coast now. And he has no plans to change that. He is doing well here in the US, with a good distance to his home country Germany. Political comeback in Germany? No thanks! During his last visit in Germany last year in fall, CDU politician Horst Seehofer called him a “smart head” which he for sure his. There are few like him who know how to put things and words and phrases exactly right to the point.
In Germany, he regulary adviseds his former political party CDU in certain questions and each time ensures speculation about a possible political comeback. But no, there is no intention at all to restart his political carreer in Germany. At all. Zu Guttenberg rather focuses on his job as consultant for start-up internet companies in the US. He once said that he loved the great energy of a Silicon Vallye where everyhing seemd possible and where good ideas have what it takes to make big money.
In 2013, he started his company Spitzberg Partners LLC with the former chef of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, Ulf Gartzke. They support start-ups on their way to success. In the US, zu Guttenberg likes the simplicity of founding in contrast to Germany with its many rules and regulations. In other questions concerning politics or financials in the US, he has his own oppinions and shares them openly in his lectures – as well as topics and issues of world politics, economics and transatlantic relations. As former minister of defense, he is of course also concerned about foreign and domestic affairs.
His style: passionate, dynamic, honest
People who have seen zu Guttenberg on stage describe him as an excellent speaker who knows how to play with words and phrases. He carries his messages in a dynamic, passionate, enthusastic and, above all, honest way. Today, he speaks at national and international forums around the globe and is a welcome guest. No question that he still likes to come home to Germany from time to time, may it be as consultant for his former party CDU or in his capacity as “Distinguished Statesman” at the Center of Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) based in Washington where is leads the initiative to foster the transatlantic dialogue in currrent polticial, economic and fiancial issues. It seems that Baron zu Guttenberg won’t be bored any time soon.
