Prof. Dietrich Grönemeyer: doctor, bestselling author, back “pope” and top speaker

30. May 2022 – Katharina Schlangenotto

Prof. Dietrich Grönemeyer has made it his mission to educate people about the phenomenon of back pain. His positive message: only three percent of all back pain actually originates from the intervertebral disc. What does that mean? It simply means that every individual can do a lot to prevent back pain from occurring in the first place.

Back „Pope“ Dietrich Grönemeyer

In his holistic work as a physician, sought-after interview guest, author and lecturer, Dietrich Grönemeyer deals with the possibilities of setting a limit to back pain in particular. He pleads for prevention through a self-responsible way of life and only advises medication and surgery when it really can no longer be avoided from a holistic point of view.

About his mission he says himself: “For decades I have been pleading and fighting for the integration of conventional medicine with naturopathy. For me, medicine is an essential cultural asset! Modern orthodox medicine and psychosomatics have emerged from the traditional healing methods of cultures. As a doctor, presenter, father, grandfather and author, I am dedicated to the topics of natural, high-tech & world medicine, back and ethics – so also for children.”

Staying and becoming physically and mentally strong

The big question is how people can strengthen themselves physically, mentally and in defense against stress, threats from viruses and bacteria, and what can be done preventively to optimize the heart, back and digestive system. In short, he shows ways to stay and become a healthy person.

After all, according to “Statista.de,” back pain is one of the most important causes of incapacity to work in Germany. According to current figures from the Robert Koch Institute, a good 60 percent of Germans have had acute back pain in the last twelve months, and more than 15 percent of them permanently.

According to Dietrich Grönemeyer, the be-all and end-all against and in the prevention of back pain in our stressful times is clearly regular exercise in combination with a light diet and relaxation.

Sitting is the new smoking

At a time when most people spend hours sitting at desks in front of screens, exercise has become a scarce commodity for many. This starts with children, who now incorporate much less exercise into their daily lives than they did before the days of social media & co. Grönemeyer advises people to stretch, loll about, stand up and walk around every now and then, even when they’re at work. Because, he clearly states, “Sitting is the new smoking.”

A moderate endurance program with muscle building, in which no one has to strain themselves, goes well with this. Rather, he says, it’s about getting out of breath every now and then to do something good for the cardiovascular system, and incorporating exercise into everyday life.

He also believes in a light diet consisting of plenty of fruit and vegetables, vitamins and fiber.

After tension, relaxation is an essential part of a healthy life. Relaxing on a physical and mental level is not only good for the spine, but for the whole person.

Alliance: Natural medicine and conventional medicine together against common diseases

In his career, Grönemeyer has published many books on the subject of health, including “Naturmedizin und Schulmedizin!” (Natural Medicine and Orthodox Medicine), with which he aims to educate people about the major common diseases and provide assistance. Last year, he published a new book on the Indian health teachings of Ayurveda, which translates as “the knowledge of life”.

His lecture topics revolve around world medicine, natural medicine and conventional medicine, exercise and inner and outer posture, The cross with the back, environment, climate, water in connection with the human immune system or the future of the health industry and medicine.
