I’m often asked: “Tell me, what do you actually do in your job?”
The short answer: Every day, I work with people who have something to say.
Entrepreneurs, scientists, sportspeople, futurists, politicians, experts from a wide variety of fields. People with fascinating stories.
One of my tasks is to present these personalities on our websites in such a way that clients, event organisers and companies can immediately recognise what sets this speaker apart, what they stand for and the subject areas they specialise in.
They’re a very diverse group of people, and yet the same question keeps cropping up in my work:
🎙️ What actually makes someone a really good speaker?
An impressive CV alone isn’t enough.
Expertise alone isn’t enough either.
On stage, there’s something else that comes into play: the ability to present a topic in such a way that it becomes relevant to the people in the room.
- Making complex ideas understandable.
- Offering insights into current events.
- Taking a clear stance.
- Telling stories that stick in the mind.
- And, ideally, sparking a thought that continues to resonate long after the talk is over.
It’s precisely this mix that I find so fascinating. Because sometimes it’s not the most prominent or well-known person who makes the strongest impression, but the one who addresses the right topic for the right audience at exactly the right moment.
To ensure we find the perfect match between a speaker and a client, we need detailed speaker profiles – that’s my job – and a booking team that carefully analyses exactly what the client needs and which speaker, trainer or coach is the right fit.
And let me tell you: our booking team is really good at it.
