“Students from Eastern Europe wanted as interpreters”: With this advertisement in the Cologne university canteen, the entrepreneurial career of the successful business founder Nelly Kostadinova began. Within only three years, the Bulgarian journalist made a name for herself as a court interpreter and started to set up her own translation service at the same time. Today, her company is present in 19 locations on two continents and generates sales in the millions.

Why are you a Premium Speaker? Where do you get your insights from?
In 1990 I came from Bulgaria to Germany with 50 DM in my pocket and no knowledge of the language. In 1997 I founded the translation company Lingua-World and started my unique career. Today I manage 19 locations on two continents and have a network of more than 10,000 freelance translators worldwide. As well as being an entrepreneur through and through, I am also a keynote speaker, author and doer. In my book “Ein Koffer voller Wollen (A Suitcase Full of Hope)”, which will be published by Springer in spring 2019, I describe my passion as an entrepreneur, but not only that. I open the doors to self-awareness and give self-confidence to those who have not yet realized that we – and only we alone – can create our own life and make it our own unforgettable story.

What will be in the future? Does 'time' play an important role in your work?
Time’s running and we’re running with it. Our own development and shaping the future are the paths we all have to take. My profession is shaped by development. Through new ideas, their digital implementation and our own flexibility, opportunities open up for a modern life for which communication and clear understanding are essential. My presence and active participation on two continents are my small contribution to our common future.
