Backstage hotel industry: Oliver Stoldt meets Klaus Kobjoll

Klaus Kobjoll is an icon in the hotel industry – founder of the famous Hotel Schindlerhof in Nuremberg – the best conference hotel in Germany.

39 years ago, Klaus and Renate Kobjoll took over an old farm in Boxdorf near Nuremberg and converted it into a country hotel with conference rooms. They were ridiculed and laughed at for this crazy idea. Today, the Schindlerhof is the top address for conferences and meetings, a professional conference center run by great people, with humanity, heart, joy and unique service.

In November, Klaus Kobjoll held his final open workshop and the hall was fully booked. Standing ovations, champagne and tears, because Klaus Kobjoll is an outstanding speaker and his workshops were always informative and peppered with anecdotes.

Klaus Kobjoll and I like to philosophize about our time together in the hotel & tourism industry and about the future: shortage of skilled workers, service culture & that only the most innovative hoteliers with a clear positioning will survive the future journey.

In 1995, I attended a seminar at the Schindlerhof for the first time. And in 2003, Klaus Kobjoll was the first speaker at the first Alpine Symposium in Grindelwald.

And now it was an honor for me to be present at his last public workshop.
