The early bird…. Backstage live from life between glamour and reality.
Hamburg Central Station, shortly before 6.00 am. On a cold and wet Friday morning, I’m travelling from Hamburg to Berlin for the next gig and a few meetings. ‘Speaker management at its best’.
The evening before, 5-star hotel, spotlights, stage, champagne, canapés and lots of networking. Get up at 5.00 a.m. the next morning, shower and walk directly to the railway station. A ham sandwich ‘on the run’ and a coffee in a paper cup. Waiting for the ICE from Hamburg to Berlin, which was even on time this Friday morning and arrived in Berlin at 8.24 am. Off to the taxi and the first meeting in the city, preparing for the next stage show.
I love this life and the variety, this daily mix of glamour and real life. It’s tremendous fun being on tour and meeting lots of exciting people, having conversations and often learning too. Especially when you get to accompany business managers, entrepreneurs, artists and politicians.
But life on the road, on the bus journey or on the train, brings me together with people from whom I learn a lot about life, how to master daily challenges, overcome crises or experience success stories that don’t make the headlines in the newspapers.
After the meetings in Berlin, I travelled by plane to Zurich and home that same afternoon. Woke up in Hamburg, meetings in Berlin during the day and a glass of wine at home in Zurich in the evening. A completely normal day came to an end.
