The Future of Events – A strong signal for the meetings and events industry

18. November 2024 – Oliver Stoldt

The “Future of Events” in Hanover – a strong signal.

As you know, the “games and gaming world” is not my cup of tea, but what I was able to experience at the “Future of Event” was Champions League. 90 people, including more than 65 students from Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts and apprentices, the partners and organizers. The question: How do young people, Generation Y & Z, see the events of tomorrow? What are their expectations of events? Is it all technology and AI or do people also count?

Future of Events – Future of Talents

And it was an event in a class of its own. After some initial shyness and the questions that were then asked correctly, everyone started to open up. The questions were enthusiastically worked through in 11 teams and the result was absolutely world class.

Wolfram Sauer, LEADING MINDS and I are very grateful that we were able to be a part of this and learn a lot from Gen Y & Z. Important for us and the #agencyofthefuture

The five lessons learned for us:

  • If you involve the youth and communicate the tasks correctly, you will also get commitment, answers and energy back
  • The 70/30 rule – 70% safety and 30% new things and experiments
  • Technology is OK and desired, but the focus is on human interaction. Also with young people
  • Bring young people from schools into companies and learn together with them. They are valuable and want to be heard
  • The uncertainty caused by the poor economy and weak politics comes through in one-to-one discussions. Young people need security and a good environment so that they can help shape the future.

An important event at the right time.

Futurist Sven Göth, who shaped the day with a strong and forward-looking presentation, was enthusiastic about the input from the younger generation. He was able to take away exciting input that he can use in his presentations and keynotes.

Let’s look forward to the future and future events. The learning event showed us at LEADING MINDS and Premium Speakers that we are on the right track with our concept, our know-how and our way of working. While other agencies can only mediate, we are already at the table during the planning phase of many conferences and meetings, as we can also curate and plan congresses and events.
