The Vendée Globe is a solo, non-stop, unassisted, round-the-world yacht race. It takes courage, perseverance, resilience and passion to compete.
Oliver Heer’s Goal ist es, als erstes Deutsch-Schweizer Team die Vendée Globe zu beenden.
Die Vendée Globe ist eine Non-Stop-Regatta für Einhandsegler, die entlang des Südpolarmeers im Bereich der Roaring Forties in östlicher Richtung einmal um den Globus führt und deswegen als die härteste Einhandregatta der Welt gilt.
Start und Ziel liegen an der französischen Atlantikküste. Startberechtigt sind Einrumpfboote der Klasse Open 60. Erfunden wurde die Regatta 1989 durch den französischen Segler und Tiefseetaucher Philippe Jeantot. Seit 1992 findet die Vendée Globe alle vier Jahre statt.
