Professor of International Economics & Finance

Beatrice Weder di Mauro is President of CEPR, the leading European network of academic economists, Professor of International Economics at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies / IHEID in Geneva, and Research Professor and Distinguished Fellow at the Emerging Markets Institute of INSEAD.

After her habilitation, Beatrice Weder di Mauro went to Harvard for a research stay before taking up a professorship in economics with a focus on international macroeconomics at the University of Mainz in 2001. Her research areas include international financial markets and banking systems as well as monetary and exchange rate policy. Since 2016, she has held a visiting professorship at INSEAD in Singapore.

She was a member of the German Council of Economic Experts from 2004 to 2012, served as a member of the Federal Commission for Economic Studies, Bern from 2002 to 2004, and was an advisor to the Austrian Vice-Chancellor from 2009 to 2011.

In the period from 1994 to 1996, she worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund and regularly visits the IMF’s Research Department as a Visiting Scholar. As a visiting professor, she has conducted research at the World Bank, Harvard University, the National Bureau of Economic Research, the Federal Reserve Board of New York, and the United Nations University in Tokyo.

Beatrice Weder di Mauro is part of the Board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and is a member of the Committee for International Economic and Policy Research of the Brookings think tank and the Global Agenda Council on Fiscal Crisis of the World Economic Forum.

She currently serves on the supervisory boards of Bombardier, UBS AG, and Bosch. Her current research areas include international financial markets and banking systems, and monetary and exchange rate policy. Beatrice Weder di Mauro is fluent in English and Italian, as well as Spanish and French, in addition to German.
