Mirko Slomka began his coaching career in the youth sector before working as assistant coach to Ralf Rangnick at Hannover 96 and FC Schalke 04. In 2006, he was promoted to head coach of Schalke 04, where he impressively led the team to second place in the Bundesliga and reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. His analytical mindset, coupled with a strong focus on discipline and teamwork, quickly made him one of the most respected coaches in Germany.

As coach of Hannover 96, Slomka succeeded in moulding the team from a relegation-threatened club into a contender for international competitions. Under his leadership, Hannover 96 reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League, a milestone in the club’s history.
