About Martina Navratilova
Martina Navratilova was born in what was then Czechoslovakia and rose to worldwide fame when she moved to the United States in 1975 at the age of just 18. With a total of 59 Grand Slam titles – including a record nine Wimbledon singles victories – and 354 tournament wins, she is one of the most successful athletes in sporting history.
After retiring from professional tennis, she became a prominent advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, gender equality, and the protection of children, animals and the environment. Throughout her career, Martina Navratilova has received numerous awards for her sporting achievements, courage, openness and social commitment, including:
