Her journey began with the news programme “SAT.1 Regional” in Hamburg and Lower Saxony and then the SAT.1 early evening programme “Endlich Feierabend”. However, in order to gain experience not only as a video reporter, but also to become a multimedia professional in journalism, Kira Ortmann then studied for two years at the Axel Springer SE School of Journalism. Here she already conducted interviews with exciting personalities such as defence lawyer Dr Ulrich Endres and Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer, gained her first experience in moderation and learned to produce videos completely independently. As the first journalistic format on TikTok, she and her team reached millions of young people and invented a platform-adapted storytelling style that has taken hold today.
Kira then went on to report on the biggest events of the day at BILD: for a fortnight, she reported live from the Ahr Valley on the flood disaster for several hours every day; during the 2022 federal election, she accompanied Annalena Baerbock on her chancellor candidate tour of Germany, and later Queen Elizabeth II on her last trip through Scotland and England. What makes her tick: Always being close, never losing focus and yet reporting with a lightness adapted to the situation so that it always remains interesting for the viewer. These are also the qualities that have made Kira Ortmann the presenter of the most successful morning show in Germany: SAT.1 Frühstücksfernsehen. She has been part of the presenter team since the beginning of 2023.
At the same time, she moderates events, conducts interviews or reports on events on the social media accounts of various companies and, of course, continues to work as a reporter worldwide.
