Interview with Felix Hofmann:

1. What are the core subjects of your keynote speeches?

Felix Hofmann:

My talks are about using cognitive biases to promote innovation. I address the questions of how to make people more creative, curious and courageous and how to change an entire organisation so that people are prepared to take more risks. I use examples and concrete tips to show how this can be done.

2. Which audience or which branch do you reach with your speech?

Felix Hofmann:

My presentations are aimed at all people who want to bring more innovation, creativity and courage into their organisations. I show which actions work from the top down (e.g. from the executive board), but also what each individual employee can do to contribute to a culture of innovation.

3. Are you a PREMIUM SPEAKER? Where do you get your insights from?

Felix Hofmann:

I was CEO of a Swiss innovation consultancy for many years, where I learnt first-hand about the (psychological) problems that many people have with implementing innovation. During the pandemic, I took a long break and did a lot of research into psychology. My realisation was that biases don’t always have to be bad, but that we can also use them strategically for more innovation. I tested this idea with companies in several online seminars over several weeks. I then wrote my first book REFRAME The Psychology of Innovation.

4. What will be in the future? Does «time» play an important role in your work?

Felix Hofmann:

Oh yes! Many people would agree with me that technological and social developments are accelerating. Change is becoming the new normal. My thesis is therefore also. You have to make innovation the ‘norm’. But companies in crisis in particular find it difficult to be innovative. On the contrary – innovation is often one of the first areas to be cut. This is also understandable on the one hand, but highly irrational on the other. I try to unravel this irrationality in order to provide managers with tools and methods to make better decisions in the long term.

5. Tell us your life motto? What do you want to give your listeners to take with them?

Felix Hofmann:

If something is going incredibly badly, ask yourself what the great thing about the problem is! This is a simple REFRAMING technique that you can use again and again, both professionally and in your private life.
