The German Bundestag is the representative body of the Federal Republic of Germany and its most important legislative body. It consists of representatives of the German people, who are elected by direct, free, equal and secret ballot for a four-year term of office.
The electoral term of the current 20th German Bundestag began with its constituent session on October 26, 2021. The election date for the 21st German Bundestag must therefore be within the period from Wednesday, August 27, 2025 to Sunday, October 26, 2025. According to current planning, the 2025 federal elections will take place at the end of September 2025.
