Presenter, Podcaster & Speaker for Female Empowerment, Financial Expert

Janin Ullmann is a presenter, journalist, podcaster and speaker – and above all a woman with attitude, heart and a clear mission: she is committed to the financial independence of women.

Having made a name for herself as a presenter on VIVA at the age of just 18, today she stands for intelligent entertainment with depth. She presents formats such as “Make Love, Fake Love” (RTL+), “Das Ding des Jahres” (ProSieben) and the big Helene Fischer documentary (VOX). She not only brings empathy and wit to the table, but also substance. From 2012 to 2014, she trained as a journalist at NDR, developed the talk show format “Bilder von dir”, which was nominated for the Grimme Award, and won both the German Comedy Award and the German Television Award with “extra3”.

In addition to her work in front of the camera, Janin is very committed to social issues – first and foremost: the financial independence of women. With her podcast “Female Finance”, which she launched together with OMR in 2021, she deliberately breaks the taboo “You don’t talk about money” and sets an example for more economic self-determination. As a sought-after speaker, she inspires at conferences such as the Female Future Force Day, Frauen100 or the Rocketeer Festival with her attitude, humor and concrete tips. She was recently a guest on “Riverboat” on the subject of financial education.

Money mindset
“You don’t talk about money!” is probably one of the most pithy beliefs about money that many of us have grown up with. I break this taboo and motivate my audience to do the same. Together, we develop a new awareness of money in order to take the first steps towards financial freedom.

Why men and women deal with money differently
Men and women have a fundamentally different approach to money. I will look at historical, social and gender-specific roles. We also look at the trend of “tradwives” (traditional housewives who stand at the stove), which is currently reaching the new generation from the USA via TikTok. We discuss why this trend is problematic and how it affects women’s financial independence.

Fix The System, Not The Women – A few steps to financial independence for women
Women are still at a disadvantage, especially when it comes to finances. One in four women over 80 ends up in poverty in old age in Germany. I would like to encourage and empower women to stand on their own two feet financially and give them practical tips.

“Financial independence is freedom – and we need to talk about it.” – Janin Ullmann

Janin grew up with her single mother and sister in a prefabricated building in Erfurt. Money is a constant topic, as there is not much of it in the family. The dogmas “We have to turn over every penny three times” and “You don’t talk about money” had a strong influence on Janin’s childhood. She wants to break the taboo of not being allowed to talk about money and is therefore launching her podcast “Female Finance” in 2021. Janin is campaigning for women’s financial independence – a topic close to her heart. For her, this means: “Protection from poverty in old age, the opportunity to quit a job that doesn’t fulfill us, to end a partnership without facing financial ruin, or to implement the business idea we’ve always dreamed of. Financial independence is freedom!” says Janin.

“Women are disadvantaged and underrepresented when it comes to finance, and I want to change that with my podcast FEMALE FINANCE!”

In her inspiring and enlightening keynotes and panel talks, she explains why it is essential for women to actively deal with their finances, why poverty in old age is often female-dominated and how women can achieve financial independence. Janin Ullmann gives practical tips in workshops and motivates her listeners to take the first steps on the path to financial self-determination.

As a brand ambassador for L’Oréal Paris and Schwarzkopf, Janin not only stands for outer strength, but also for inner strength. She supports the “Stand-up” initiative against harassment in public spaces and consistently uses her reach to make social issues visible.

Janin Ullmann lives in Hamburg, loves clear words, real conversations – and HSV. As she says herself, this makes her capable of suffering, but also optimistic: “If you’re passionate about something, you can withstand headwinds.”
