Gernot Blümel, former Minister of Finance of Austria, CEO Mare TechnoPark.
After completing his military service, Gernot Blümel studied philosophy and economics. His professional career took him to the Austrian Parliament and the Foreign Ministry, as well as to the position of Secretary General of the Austrian People’s Party, where he drafted a new party program.
He later became Minister of the Chancellery in the Sebastian Kurz I government, responsible for art, culture and media. He also became Austria’s Minister for Europe and was Chairman of the General Council of the European Union during the Council Presidency. In the Kurz II government, he was Minister of Finance and mastered the eco-social tax reform and the budgetary management of the coronavirus crisis.
After retiring from politics, he has been leading the development of a research park for artificial intelligence in digital medicine for several years.

After studying philosophy and economics and a political career that led him to the office of Austrian Minister of Finance, Gernot Blümel now focuses on the practical and ethical aspects of artificial intelligence.
As Chancellery and European Affairs Minister, he shaped Austria’s position in Europe and negotiated key political processes, for example during the EU Council Presidency. Today, Gernot Blümel is at the interface between technology and society: with the MARE TechnoPark, he is pursuing the goal of advancing AI innovations, particularly in the medical field.
His lectures combine political foresight, philosophical depth and technological practice – and inspire reflection on the future of humans in the age of machines.
