More about Martin J. Eppler

Martin J. Eppler completed his master’s degree in management at the University of St. Gallen and also studied at Boston University and ESCP Europe. His doctorate in management with the topic “Informative action: An analysis of information overload in management” was completed at the University of Geneva. After returning to the University of St. Gallen, he habilitated in the field of management with a focus on information and communication management. He has been honored with 12 MBA teaching awards and six awards for outstanding work. In addition, he received the International Book Award 2018 and the European Innovation Excellence Award 2021 for his teaching in research methodology.

Martin J. Eppler began his academic career as a lecturer and project manager at the University of Geneva. At the same time, he worked as a consultant for the Geneva Knowledge Group. He later returned to the University of St. Gallen, where he was appointed Senior Lecturer and Vice Director of the Institute for Media and Communication Management. In 2003, he was appointed Professor of Information and Communication Management at the University of Lugano. Since 2009, he has been Professor of Media and Communication Management at the University of St. Gallen. There he heads the ISP MBA program and is Director of the Institute for Media and Communication Management.

Martin J. Eppler has been a visiting professor at various international institutions, including Georgiatech (Atlanta, USA), Simon Fraser University (Vancouver, Canada), the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing, Aalto University in 2010, the Universidad del Pacifico Graduate School in 2011 and the University of Cambridge. He has also served as an editorial board member for the journals “Organizational Development”, the former “Journal of Universal Knowledge Management”, as well as “Studies in Communication Sciences” and “Information & Management”.
