Industry 4.0
What is Industry 4.0? We constantly hear this term, yet it is comparatively seldom that we find a “spot on” definition of what it actually means. That is why we would like to deliver precisely this: Industry 4.0 refers to a future-oriented project for the digitisation of industry. This project was originally set up in a research project of the German government. The main concern of Industry 4.0 is to strive for the increasing utilisation of modern IT and communications technology in industry. Machines are to be networked to an increasing extent and are to work more intelligently. There are also plans for them to communicate independently with one another and with people. Collaboration between people is also to be made less location-dependant, more flexible and more effective than has been possible to date. If you put all this together, then this is what is meant by Industry 4.0.
